The Broken Sword

17.75" x 28.5" (sight size) on Art Board.  Matted and Framed to 26" x 37"

Signed Bottom Right "Boris"

Boris Vallejo's impact in the world of illustration and fine art can not be overstated.  From book covers and calendars to the walls of the most prestigious collections, Boris has been a force in the art world for the past 30 or so years.

Listed in The Fantastic Art of Boris Vallejo as being painted in 1971 (though I suspect this is a misprint), this painting was first published in 1977 as the paperback book cover to Poul Anderson's, The Broken Sword.  Subsequently published in a number of Boris' books, it is easily one of Boris' most recognizable classics.  Beast, maiden, and hero to the rescue in a wonderfully dramatic scene.

This wonderful painting, over 30 years old, is in excellent condition with bright colors and wonderful detail.  A very nice copy of the first edition paperback is included with the sale of the painting.
