Vincent Di Fate

Seven Soup Rivers

6" x 17.5" Scratchboard.  Matted and Framed to 11" x 23"

Signed Lower Right "V. Di Fate '94"

Vincent Di Fate has been creating fantastical images for over 30 years.  He won his first major award, the highly coveted Frank R. Paul Award for Outstanding Achievement in Science Fiction Illustration, back in 1978.  His paintings have been exhibited in group and solo shows around the world and belong to collections that include the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. and the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.

This wonderful piece of work was executed in 1994.  It is the story illustration for "Seven Soup Rivers" by Robert Sheckley and published in Galaxy, V2#1, No. 7, Jan/Feb 1995.  It is finely detailed and executed, and surprisingly free from other marks, save for a very minor one inch rub to the left of the man's head at the edge of the solid black area.  It is a great example of the versatility of this science fiction illustrator's mastery of this challenging media.
