Signed Bottom Left "© Elmore '93"
Larry Elmore entered the commercial art market in the late 1970s, his art being published in National Lampoon and Heavy Metal magazines. However, he is most noted for the work he did when employed with TSR, Inc. creating covers for Dungeons & Dragons, AD&D and other gaming books, including Dragonlance. Transitioning to freelance work in the late 1980s, he has continued to be a significant force in the fantasy illustration field with major contributions to a variety of publications including Dragon Magazine.
This wonderful painting, executed in classic Elmore style and detail, was painted in 1993 and published as the cover to Josepha Sherman's book, The Bard's Tale; The Chaos Gate in 1994. Magic, swords, and sorcery combine with a handful of characters, including a sexy elf maiden, in a wonderful wooded scene representative of Larry Elmore's mastery of the fantastic.
This wonderful painting is in excellent condition with bright colors and wonderful detail. A very nice copy of the first edition paperback is included with the sale of the painting.
