Like they knew it was our first day stop! Mural on U.S. Route 50 in the center of downtown Chillicothe, Ohio.

Second day on the road and stopped for a few hours to take in the zoo. Nothing more needs to be said about these playful, not rodents--mongooses.

Night shot helped out by the Moon illuminating the thin clouds and providing a sense of motion for this 30 second exposure of the Memorial.

This is what happens when you're out way later than you should and the result of getting out of the way of an oncoming car while taking a time-lapse photo from the middle of the road on the Lincoln Memorial Bridge over the Wabash River that separates Illinois from Indiana.

We could see the capitol dome in the distance and since the road went right through, we decided to take a break and wander around a bit. Discovered the Lewis and Clark trailhead was located here too.

Just wandering around looking for something interesting to explore and followed the signs to the Clover Dell Park Lake. Nice little spot to roam after dinner.

Sands Lake is really more of a big pond, so went to the other side to catch the full Moon rising.

Route 50 was closed just after crossing over to the south side of the Gunnison River, and all traffic was diverted to Route 92 on the north side, which turned out to be a great ride and well worth the extra time. We stopped at this overlook and took a few shots of the river valley below. This one is looking back to the east.

Not much at all in this stopping place. But, good Mexican restaurant right across the street from the hotel and a really nice sunset.

Just a peaceful, cloudless sunset over the lake.

Limerick Lane Cellars was the first of six wineries we visited in Sonoma and Napa over 2 days. These zinfandel grapes are growing on 100+ year old vines that are the basis for the winery's signature wines.

Chimney Rock was the first winery we visited on the second day of our stop in California.

Rutherford Hill Winery was our fifth of six wineries we visited over 2 days while in Sonoma and Napa with our good friends, Lisa and Rusty.

Sometimes you just have to stop and photograph the roses.

Before the car decided to have its issue, we were happily motoring along and pulled over to pick up some rocks (you'll have to ask), and I took this panoramic shot looking back towards the bridge we had just crossed.

"If only it were ours!" Right! It was a rainy day, but nice visit to Oak Alley Plantation on the Mississippi River outside of New Orleans.

No clouds made for a very clean, somewhat "boring," sunset, but nice, quiet evening, with some fireworks in the area.

Just after sunset, Venus was brilliant, and Mars is on about a 45 degree angle up and to the left. Mars is about 2/3 towards the other side of the Sun as seen from the Earth at this time, and therefore not very bright.
